GUEST POST OVERVIEW: I am an American; born and raised in New York City. So, when my friend John asked if he could write a few tips about visiting the USA, I was fascinated to see what advice he would offer.
. . .
“So… you have booked your holiday to American and are counting down the days until you’re able to get on the airplane and set off for pastures new.
Going on holiday anywhere is always exciting, but somewhere like America which offers something for everyone is often one of the most exciting places you can visit.
Of course, you want to make sure that you get the most out of your holiday – which means packing right!
. . .
The Essentials
It goes without saying that you need to make sure you take any documents with you that you need to be able to go on holiday.
It can be a good idea to get some kind of folder to take with you, so that you know you have everything need safely stored in one place. You’ll need to make sure you take tickets and passport with you for your flight – of course!
You’ll also need to make sure that you have any holiday confirmation paperwork printed out and taken with you, as well as confirmation of any trips that you have booked in advance.
. . .
Everything Else in Your Packed Bag
Make sure that you check what the weather is like for the time of year that you are visiting.
The time of year can make a massive difference to the weather and the last thing you want is your trip to be ruined because you haven’t packed the right clothes.
Also make sure you pack any cosmetic items and medication that you need for your trip too.
Double check luggage allowances to make sure that you don’t pack too much because this could end up costing you.
. . .
Make The Most Of Your Holiday
It can be easy to get carried away with thoughts like,
“During my America holiday I’ll… and while I’m there I’ll…”
But unless you make any real plans you could find your time there wasted.
The internet is packed full of travel advice and guides for almost anywhere in the world, so there is no excuse not to do your research.
Wherever you have booked to visit, spend some time looking up the area online.
This will let you know what there is to see and do in the area, so you have a better idea of how to spend your time while you are there.
This will also give you an idea of times to visit and if there are any places to avoid.”
