Winter is a magical time of the year.

Landscapes become fluffy and white;

Kids of all ages wait for the perfect moment to toss a snowball;

And fireplaces offer families something other than TV to come together around.

The Ranch at Rock Creek

One of my favorite parts of being a travel blogger is that I get to learn about really cool places to visit around the world.

Most recently, I was introduced to the Ranch at Rock Creek: an all-inclusive luxury resort in Montana.

During the summer, it’s home to horseback riding, fishing, clay shooting and all sorts of other cool outdoors activities.

However, once the days get shorter, the entire place transforms into a winter wonderland – perfect for singles ski holidays.

Playing in a Winter Wonderland

Put on your mittens and grab a hat; it’s time to go play in the snow!

With more than 10 square miles of pristine land, there are plenty of ways to stay cool: including skiing, ice skating, sledding, sleigh rides, snowcatting, snowmobiling and snow shoeing.

Ready to warm up? Then be sure to stop by the hot tub or spa before retiring to your swanky cabin for the night.

Skiing the Rocky Mountains

I love to ski. Love love love it!

My favorite place to ski is out West: where the snow is powdery, light and fluffy.

You see, I grew up in the East Coast where skiing was basically synonymous with ice skating down a steep mountain at perilous speeds.

In the Rocky Mountain ski areas near the Ranch, you don’t have to worry about that. Just put on your skis or snowboard and enter heaven.

Plus, guests of the Ranch at Rock Creek get a free day on the slopes. According to their Web site:

“Between December and March, guests receive one day of complimentary guided downhill skiing at nearby Discovery Ski Basin, including lift tickets and equipment rentals.

Only 25 minutes from The Ranch, Discovery boasts the shortest lift lines in Montana. The mountain has three faces and 67 trails, including bunny hills, moguls, groomed trails and expert runs.”

Sign me up for that!

Luxury Ranch Living

When I think about living on a ranch, words like “barn” and “log cabin” come to mind.

At the Ranch at Rock Creek, they have taken those words and put a luxury spin on them.

We’re talking king size beds, bath tubs, kitchenettes, flat screen TVs, fireplaces, laundry machines, private decks, sweeping vistas and enough room for everyone.

And, if you return during warmer weather, some cabins even have herb gardens and swimming pools outside.

Do you like food?

Trick question… of course you do. We all do!

At the Ranch at Rock Creek, you will LOVE the culinary treats presented at every meal.

Executive Chef Josh Drage takes pride in offering world-class meals; inspired by the local tastes of various cattle-producing regions in the world.

At any time, you might find the vivid flavors of Southern France, Italy and Spain sizzling on your plate.

OK, I’ve talked enough about a place I’ve never been to.

Now, I’ll let a few actual guests round out this article. Out of the 155 reviews on Trip Advisor, 151 gave it a perfect “Excellent” rating.

“Let me start by saying that the web site that describes this resort is beautifully designed, but does not do it justice. This place is Amazing. Breathtaking. Exciting. Relaxing, with a staff that truly makes this destination extraordinary!”

There’s also this one…

“It’s hard to say something about the ranch that has not already been said in the glowing reviews below. This is truly the best place on earth, and we have lived overseas twice and travelled a stack in between.

The landscape is breathtaking. The food was so fricking good. The activities were hugely fun.

But above all else, it’s the staff that make this place above and beyond anything you’ve ever experienced. It’s like they took the nicest people in America, and gave them jobs here.

We arrived shortly before Christmas as part of a large family group for our first “White Christmas”.

Upon arrival to our rooms, we found a Christmas tree with all the decorations waiting to be adorned, much to the excitement of our small children.

From that moment on, the ranch felt like home. In fact, there was several times we’d leave shoes drying by the fireplace in the Great Room, forgetting it wasn’t our own living room.”
