Chiang Mai, Thailand’s cultural heart, is the perfect digital nomad, adventurer, and spiritual seeker destination in Southeast Asia. As Chiang Mai is so diverse, choosing where to stay there could greatly impact your experience of the city.

Below is my breakdown of the best places to stay in Chiang Mai and the best areas to stay (with suggestions for some top accommodations to fit travel styles and budgets).

The historic center of Chiang Mai is the Old City, enclosed behind old walls and a moat. The area is walkable, full of temples and local eateries, and culture-rich experiences.

2. Nimmanhaemin (Nimman) – Best for Digital Nomads & Cafés

Chiang Mai’s Nimman is a very trendy neighborhood and a very modern neighborhood. It has art galleries and it has an endless number of, I would say, Instagram-worthy coffee shops.
