CITYSCAPES
From bustling metropolises to small towns, remote villages and everything in between, let's explore the notion of a "city"

LANDMARKS & RUINS

What constitutes a landmark? In some cities, it’s a castle, skyscraper or ancient ruin. In others, it could be as simple as “that tree we like to meet under.”

I miss "Adventures of a GoodMan" Greg.⁣
⁣
For a decade, my wife and I bounced between traveling, living abroad, moving home, working, saving, and doing it all again.⁣
⁣
Along the way, I shared photos and stories from our adventures — simply because it made me and other people happy.⁣
⁣
That approach to life attracted success – culminating in a National Geographic TV show about my life as a travel blogger.⁣
⁣
In the 6 years since we returned to the States, I've dedicated less and less time to photography and my website.⁣
⁣
Until recently...⁣
⁣
Now, I'm feeling totally inspired to work on Adventuresofagoodman.com again.⁣

The definition of insanity is trying the same thing over and over again and hoping for a different result. ⁣
⁣
Yet, that’s what so many of us do. ⁣
⁣
We try the same old thing over and over again. ⁣
⁣
Especially as business owners and entrepreneurs.⁣
⁣
We spruce up our service or product with new packaging.⁣
⁣
Add new offerings.⁣
⁣
Go in new directions.⁣
⁣
But, in the end, it’s the same thing. ⁣
⁣
Same results.⁣
⁣
Failure.⁣
⁣
So, we sign up for an online course.⁣
⁣
Invest in a done-for-you funnel or a can’t-miss affiliate marketing offer.⁣

“Earn income in your sleep,” the gurus and coaches promise.⁣
⁣
But in the end, we just get the same results.⁣
⁣
Failure.⁣
⁣
Why?⁣
⁣
Because it’s still the same thing.⁣
⁣
We’re still business owners who don’t have clarity.⁣
⁣
To create a new outcome, you have to change the circumstances that led to the one you don’t want.⁣
⁣
You need to understand WHY you failed.⁣
⁣
Because I’ll tell you, it’s not a lack of trying. ⁣
⁣
It’s not a lack of Google ads. ⁣
⁣
It’s not a lack of posting daily on Facebook or Instagram. ⁣
⁣
It’s our mindset.⁣
⁣
It’s the internal work we’re not doing.⁣

My family is my WHY.

To spend more time with them, I created my dream lifestyle.

I’ve been working online from home or other remote locations for 15 years.

Before covid, I would always mention that in my sales calls.

“I run my own business and work from home so I can be there with my kids as they grow up.”

In the beginning, it was true.

My lifestyle and growing digital marketing agency allowed me to be with Bodhi daily for his first few years.

However, as the stresses of running an agency grew, my days began to look more like a 9-5 (plus a late night shift) than the life of freedom I was hoping for.

Since Luna was born in 2018, we have been blessed with 20 hours a week of live-in child care.

Between Carrie being a full time mom and Yesenia helping give Carrie some time for herself, I got to galavant around town and live the digital nomad lifestyle in my own backyard.

I had workspaces in downtown Santa Cruz and up in the mountains.

A few go-to coffee shops in Scott’s Valley.

It was fun … but I wasn’t seeing my family.

Bodhi and Luna were being raised by someone else.

By a 3rd party.

That all changed this month.

After two years of living with us, Yesenia moved out.

Carrie and I are in a new business together, and she needs at least 3 hours a day to work on her own stuff.

Without Yesenia, that means if Carrie’s not on, then I am

What an incredible gift!!!

For years, Carrie and Yesenia gifted me a lifestyle.

The time I had to myself fueled my professional growth.

It got me to the point where I’m ready to take a bold new step in life.

To step into my next-level self and fully embody Greg 4.0.

To put my biz on autopilot and focus on my WHY.

I get to go back to being Dad.

To spending quality time with Bodhi and Luna.

To going on outings and getting dirty.

To being present and not thinking about my lists.

To see all the little moments - the awe, wonder, and joy.

The tears, the scrapes, the complete refusals.

The explorations, the car rides, the snacks.

These are all the things I’ve been missing.

These are what Carrie and Yesenia got to see every day.

These are the things I’m grateful to be seeing now.

Plus, all these outings give me

I really miss traveling.⁣
⁣
It was such a part of Carrie and my life for so long.⁣
⁣
Last summer, after 6 years of being in the USA, we booked tickets for our family to visit Thailand.⁣
⁣
The trip was canceled, for obvious reasons.⁣
⁣
Now, if we leave the country, our whole family will need a q-tip shoved into their brain before we can return.⁣
⁣
I think we'll wait a bit longer.⁣
⁣
The delay just means that I get to keep visualizing my first class trip back to Thailand.⁣
⁣
Priority boarding.⁣
⁣
Comically big chairs for the kids.⁣
⁣
Amazing leg room for their 6'3" dad.⁣
⁣
A peaceful and harmonious flight.⁣
⁣
First off.⁣
⁣
No line at customs.⁣
⁣
Sawadee!⁣

Coworking spaces are a staple of the Digital Nomad lifestyle

These shared office spaces are a place for people to focus and get work done - away from the distractions of “outside.”

Today, I’m at Satellite Felton.

It’s a special day, because the power is out in nearby Bonny Soon.

That means lots of locals need a place that has internet so they can get their job done.

The place is buzzing (as is the generator).

I love being here on days like this.

I would stay all day … except I forgot my power cord! 🔌

At least I’ll get a few hours in.

Love this place!

Love this life!

Love you all!

QUESTION — have you ever worked in a coworking space?

HAPPY NATIONAL SQUIRREL APPRECIATION DAY⁣
⁣
Did you know ... --- Up until the mid-19th century, squirrels weren’t present in American cities?⁣
⁣
In order to have squirrels in the middle of urban areas, you’d need to transform the landscape by planting trees and building parks. ⁣
⁣
You also needed to change the way people behaved by discouraging them from shooting squirrels and encouraging them to start feeding the animals instead. ⁣
⁣
The first documented introduction occurred in Philadelphia’s Franklin Square in 1847. Boston and New Haven followed suit and brought in squirrels a few years later in 1850. ⁣
⁣
The squirrel experiment had ended by the 1860s, when many squirrels had either passed or were killed amid concerns that they would disturb birds and lead to insect problems. ⁣
⁣
THE ORIGIN OF THE ⁣
NATIONAL SQUIRREL APPRECIATION DAY⁣
⁣
In 2001, wildlife rehabilitation specialist, Christy Hargrove, founded National Squirrel Appreciation Day in Asheville, North Carolina. ⁣
⁣
Christy created this day to encourage kind attitudes towards our bushy-tailed neighbors by setting out food and water for squirrels, and even allowing them to play with that bird-feeder you normally don’t want them touching. ⁣
⁣
We might generally look at squirrels as being an unnecessary nuisance, but their existence is actually beneficial to the environment, and in urban areas, assists in park beautification. ⁣
⁣
Albeit by accident, squirrels plant seeds (initially meaning to store away nuts to come back to when they’re hungry) which eventually grow into trees, thus assisting with forest renewal. They’re natures gardeners!⁣

FYI - here’s a Facebook Mental Health tip ...⁣
⁣
If you’re really excited about something and a friend post something negative about that thing on Facebook, don’t engage. ⁣
⁣
Don’t try to change their mind by replying to their FB post. ⁣
⁣
I just did this and it led to anxiety, increased heart rate, feelings of self doubt, and a desire to crawl into the corner and hide.⁣
⁣
Surround yourself with people who share the same truth as you.⁣
⁣
I’m not suggesting to live in a bubble. ⁣
⁣
But, why put yourself in a stressful situation if you don’t have to.⁣
⁣
As for this conversation, I politely bowed out.⁣
⁣
Told my friend that my it didn’t uplift me and I wanted to surround myself with high-vibes only.⁣
⁣
Ended it with some happy memories about how we knew each other in the real world, and called it a day.⁣
⁣
Felt great!⁣
⁣
I highly encourage it.⁣
⁣
Let Facebook inspire you.⁣

How would your life change if you never needed to worry about money again?

They call it the “millionaire mindset.”

Here’s mine.

A life without worrying about paying bills.

A life of infinite possibility

A life of financial freedom

A life of travel, adventure, and fun

A life of giving back at every step

A life of making an impact

Anyway, that’s me.

What about you?

What would you do with some insane amount of money that you can’t even fathom right now?

»» changing your mindset
»» releasing limiting beliefs
»» rewriting your money story
»» creating your dream business

I’m going to be taking the mastermind too and will create a group chat for everyone who takes it with me.

That way, we can all share our thoughts and action steps, hold each other accountable, and create a community of likeminded people.

The 2-day event starts on tomorrow - Sunday, January 17.

Let me know if you’re interested and I’ll send you all the details.

Hope to do this with you!

Love,
Greg

Do you actually read long Facebook posts?

I like to write a lot.

I like to tell stories in my Facebook and Instagram posts.

The stories are a daily narrative.

My life‘s journey as a father, husband, businessman, photographic storyteller, dreamer, and artist.

But does anyone read them?

All the marketing gurus tell you to write long posts.

I tell the same thing to my clients.

To merge their personal brands with their business brands.

To share their authentic story, share their passion, and create the life of their dreams.

The entire online marketing industry revolves around writing long posts.

But again, do you read them?

Does anyone?

I sure don’t!!!

I skim a lot of long posts.

Occasionally, I read every word.

I look for something that catches my eye.

I like, but not love, posts with emojis! 🤣🤣

How about you?

Did you read all this?

Type "I READ THE WHOLE THING" into the comments.

OK. Let’s talk about the elephant in the room. •• What’s up with Greg?

Why is he doing gratitude journals and YES! videos and posting all the time on Facebook?

You’ve probably heard me talk about the online learning platform that Carrie and I joined a few months ago.

It’s all because of that.

The video trainings and the community behind everything you see on Facebook.

Every time I watch something, it fuels my desire (and gives me new tools) to become a better person.

I’m learning how to take care of my self so I can be of service to my family - and to the world.

At the same time, I’m learning how to create secondary income streams that mesh perfectly with all my passions.

Every day, I wake up ridiculously inspired about life, the future, and my business.

Now, the coaches, gurus, and business experts behind the platform are putting on a two day masterclass.

They will share a “sampler platter” of powerful tools, practices, life-hacks, and resources for bringing this same joy and excitement into your life.

For creating financial freedom and a legacy for your family.

For being the best version of yourself possible during our short time on this beautiful earth.

LET’S DO IT TOGETHER! 🤝

It’s so easy to get excited about the lessons in the masterclass.

The tough part is keeping the momentum going after.

That’s where community comes in.

Let me know if you want to join.

I’ll create a private group chat for us all to go through our process together.

We will inspire each other to grow in every aspect of our lives.

Who’s with me?

🌈 INTRIGUED?

Type YES! — or FREEDOM in the comments and send you the deets :)

Love,
Greg

We make millions of choices every day of our lives.

How many of them actually propel our life forward?

It starts so early in the morning.

Do I keep sleeping? Or, do I get up, do some self-care, and get breakfast ready for the family before they rise?

When Carrie, Luna, and Bodhi leave for the day, do I plopped right down at my computer or do I take some time to set my intentions, visualize my long-term goals, meditate, go for a walk, get my heart pumping, and take care of myself?

For so long, I have been choosing the life of ease.

Sleeping in as long as possible.

Staying on the couch.

14 hour days in front of the computer.

My body has been a secondary afterthought.

So has my mind.

I’ve shared before about my deepest fears about being seen as a fake, fraud, imposter, and phony.

Every day, I go on FB and talk about how to live the life of your dreams.

But, I’m faltering on my own homefront.

This morning I said fuck it!

I’m changing everything.

It’s currently 10:48am PST

I have already meditated,

Set intentions,

Booked a phone call with a therapist,

Signed up for an epic two day master class that my online learning platform is hosting,

I just got back from a brisk walk through the forest that surrounds my home (as seen in these photos)

And now, finally, it’s time to work on my business.

I can’t wait to see what else gets done today!

WHAT ABOUT YOU?! 🙏🌈

What’s one thing you can do differently today that will make a positive impact on your life?

It doesn’t have to be big.

The smallest pebble can create an epic wave.

Would love to know in the comments. ❤️👇

When someone signs up for your newsletter, they are giving you access to their most valuable marketing commodity: their inbox. ⁣
⁣
Once there, you have a very limited window to make a good impression and inspire them to look forward to your emails.⁣
⁣
That’s where an automated welcome sequence comes in. ⁣
⁣
This series of 5-10 emails should be automatically sent to all new newsletter subscribers. ⁣
⁣
That’s where you wow them! ⁣
⁣
All newsletter apps (Mailchimp, Drip, Constant Contact, etc) have the ability to do this.⁣
⁣
Consider the following stats:⁣
⁣
✅ A whopping 74% of new subscribers expect (and will open) a welcome email.⁣
⁣
✅ A welcome email is 86% more effective than a regular newsletter.⁣
⁣
✅ Welcome emails generate an astounding 320% revenue compared to other promotional emails. ⁣
